Oscar González
| Oscar González was born in Palencia in 1956. At the age of 14, he became aware of art as an impressive reflection of natural beauty of the high mountains of Palencia. From the start, he was also attracted to interior design and the restaurant industry, both facets in which he would show his particular reordering of space and sophisticated taste that he would not leave behind throughout his artistic path. At the age of 18, moved by the artistic and cultural effervescence that was taking place in the Balearics in the seventies, he settled in Menorca where he would discover two decisive elements in the formation of his career: light and the sea. In search of new sides to his sea and light influences, he visited Lanzarote where he was deeply impressed by the force of its contrasts and the sobriety of its space. This began a period during which he regularly visited the island, each time staying for longer periods until the beginning of the ‘90s when he settled on the island. Here he would begin new forms of expression with new materials: pigments and sands with which he would succeed in establishing a well-defined and recognizable style in which he would show a fully mature state of internal deepening, and that would progressively tend towards the abstract. |
